Clown Fundamentals Workshop

What is clown? Even the snootiest, most educated clowns can debate this all night. But this is my little workshop, so I will teach you what I think clown is. It will be very fun and it will involve a little theory and a lot of stage time. Clown is based in physicality, play, and losing control. We will find some fun to have, learn to be deeply present with the audience, and you can write down some profound notes in your little notebooks too!

About Grayson:

Grayson Morris directed and produced ten immersive theater works in her hometown of Asheville, NC before moving to Los Angeles to study clown. She was a founding member of Mil Grus, the LA-based bouffon group that had a sold out run at The Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2019 and won an HFF Encore Award and Pick of the Fringe. Mil Grus went on to perform at The Fringe Encore Series at the Soho Playhouse in New York.

Morris began her performing career with puppetry in 2005, and she has since appeared in numerous puppet slams with her original shorts and co-founded Asheville’s giant puppet collective, Street Creature. She is co-producer of The Tiny Paper Theater Festival, an international puppetry/animation/toy theater festival that ran online during the Covid19 pandemic.

She has been performing standup for eleven years and has appeared in the Great American Comedy Festival and on Gotham Comedy Live. She has opened for Maria Bamford and toured nationally with her solo show, Am I a Grownup Yet?

Her new solo show Mother Nature, which features clown, puppetry, and immersive theater elements just won the Encore Producer's Award at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June.
