HISTORY
Originally “Cilla Vee Movement Projects”, CVLA was established in the burgeoning arts
scene of the South Bronx, NY in 2002, where founder and director Claire Elizabeth Barratt was based at H&H Production studio - later moving to ORT in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn. With the support of NYC organizations such as Bronx Council on the Arts, the Bronx Dance Coalition, Chashama and Arts For Art (Vision Festival), Claire began to
develop the Cilla Vee signature modes of work - such as Motion Sculpture Movement
Installations, The Sound of Movement project and Art Inspires. In the late 2000s the company name was changed to Cilla Vee Life Arts to reflect its mission, and relocated to the vibrant arts community of Asheville, NC - where it is now the resident company at The Center for Connection + Collaboration.
Cilla Vee Life Arts presents work in an extreme variety of locations and situations - from parks, gardens and wild nature environments to urban city sites, store fronts, galleries and moving vehicles - including: The New York Port Authority Bus Terminal, Art Basel Miami - Design District and the Black Mountain College Museum’s {Re}Happening on Lake Eden.

Cilla Vee Life Arts is always open to revisiting and deepening familiar works and
collaborations, while continuing to experiment and investigate new territory.
